About this tool
Advanced word counter computes common text metrics live: words, characters with and without spaces, lines, paragraphs, approximate sentences and reading time.
How to use
- Paste or type your text.
- Watch the metrics update live.
- Use Clear to reset.
Use cases
- Validate word or character limits before publishing.
- Estimate the reading time of an article or post.
- Review structure: lines, paragraphs and approximate sentences.
Limits
- Up to 200,000 characters per analysis.
- Sentences and paragraphs are approximations from common punctuation and blank lines.
- Reading time uses 200 words per minute by default.
Privacy
Processing happens in your browser — we don't upload the text.
Common errors
- Empty text: every metric shows zero.
- Sentences with abbreviations or ellipsis can be counted slightly differently than expected.
Technical notes
- Sentences are approximated with terminators . ! ? …
- Paragraphs are detected from one or more empty lines.
